Retaliation is a big no! It is unlawful to retaliate against someone who has had the courage to speak up when an incident has occurred. And it is important for both students and staff to be educated.

Discussion

I have worked in Healthcare for many years. FERPA is similar to HIPAA in the dental office. You do not talk to others about a patients information the same as you would not talk to others about a students grades or information. If there is documentation that it is ok to disclose information, then it can be discussed to only that person with the proper documentation.

Social media it's a great source for advertisement and must be use in this technological era. As long as it is approved by the Florida License department.

Each institution is different but you have to know what is your role in the place and know about other departments so you can refer them to them if they need more assistance with financial aid or if the students need tools to build a resume, time management or help them with stress.

It's important to disclosure all the information and not mislead the applicant. It's my job to be well informed and follow the regulations to stay in compliance with the state.

It's important that in the process of the interview with a candidate we choose the correct words. The students needs to have all the accurate information to make a choice.

It is important that all incident's reported are thoroughly investigated regardless if the incident occurred on or off campus. And it is highly encouraged that a police report is filed.

I learned the necessary steps that need to be taken when reporting an incident that has occurred as well as the  importance of immediate action.

Title IX was enacted to protect students and employees from being discriminated against due to their sex. VAWA, Violence Against Women Act, is a law that requires institutions to offer programs that help prevent dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. These laws pertain to institutions where federal aid is provided. I agree with Harold Ortiz, this is a very detailed and useful explanation as to why Title IX and VAWA exist.

It is vital to the institution to keep updated with the CIE norms and regulations and conduct regular meetings with the staff to share new information and updates.
