It is important to incorporate visual and kinesthetic activities into our medical terminology courses to improve student engagement and content retention.

I intend to use the mystery weekly term to reinforce key concepts throughout the course.

I will use the secret identity game as an ice breaker.

Students that associate positive emotions with the learning experience will retain more of the information. Moreover, students will be more successful in the course if the material is presented using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities to reinforce the learning process.

The variety of activities in this section is truly exceptional.  These activities will review and help reinforce the content.  I will try the rebus puzzle.

The importance of mental engagement and how to reach the seers (visual) and doers (kinesthetic).  Utilizing various learning methods, including auditory, visual, and kinesthetic approaches, as a quick memory aid to reinforce critical content. Using the nine-box method is something I will use in my teaching.

Learned different team activities to utilize in the classroom.  Enhancing the use of open-ended and closed questions.  I’ve utilized the blank index cards, having students write words and meanings on five different cards, and divided them into two teams.  I did the blank sheet, but it was taped to the whiteboard. Played a baseball game similar to the one described, but allowed the team to decide on the number of bases they earned for a correct answer. Each team had the possibility of getting: one grand slam, two triples, six doubles, and twenty base hits.  It was interesting to see… >>>

The question that was raised: Is it possible to engage an entire class? A good teacher can engage the whole class by utilizing many of the skills learned from this content.  Each brain can be focused on the content being presented. Reviewing and reinforcing content with engaged learners who like the subject is one step to take. I will focus on utilizing 10-minute sections, adjusting what students and I do to accommodate all learning styles, as one way to engage learners.

Having learners who take personal responsibility and invest time in learning, both in and out of class, would be great. Using some of the tools in this class has opened my eyes in many ways.  These tools will be utilized. Peer language is a powerful teaching tool that we often utilize.  The ET Buddies are great, will be using this along with the 3-month follow-up.

I was in the mindset that lecturing was the best way to cover all the content, and it took longer to utilize the variety of learning tools. Seeing this, you can teach content more efficiently using a variety of methods, saving you time. Getting to know each other's learning styles through a 60-second assessment question was beneficial, as it allows you to assess yourself personally and as an educator. As a nurse, we are a lifelong learner, and this has helped me become an educator. Trying to achieve better ways to teach all students. I will be utilizing these tools.
